2025 Schiller Fund Recipients

2016—In accordance with the provisions of the Endow Iowa legislation, distributions of up to, but not
exceeding five percent (5%) of the Fund Property balance as of December 31st of the previous year will be
made each year to charitable organizations in the Iowa Falls-Alden Community School District
(communities of Iowa Falls, Alden, Owasa and Buckeye) serving the following field of interest: any
qualified nonprofit or charitable cause excluding one type of organization as advised by the Hardin
County Community Endowment Foundation. The ladies did note areas of interest: agriculture, arts &
culture, community betterment and health & human services.
Eleanor E. Schiller, 94, of Alden, passed away Thursday, November 2, 2017, at Hansen Family Hospital.

Eleanor Schiller was born on October 11, 1923, in Alden, Iowa to Edward and Bessie Schiller. She
graduated from Alden High School in 1941 and the University of Northern Iowa. Eleanor had worked as
a legal secretary. Eleanor is survived by her sister, Evelyn Schiller of Alden, Iowa. She was preceded in
death by her parents.

Evelyn J. Schiller, 94, of Alden, passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at her home.

Evelyn Schiller was born January 5, 1926, in Alden, Iowa to Edward and Bessie Schiller. She graduated
from Alden High School in 1945. After graduating from the University of Northern Iowa and a business
college, Evelyn worked for many years as part of the office staff for the Ringsby Truck Lines out of
Denver. When her mother Bessie fell ill, Evelyn returned to Alden to help handle the business affairs
involving the​
family farm.

Evelyn was a special lady private and intelligent with special touches of humor and toughness. In
conjunction with her sister Eleanor, Evelyn created the Schiller Trust which has already funded several
projects in Alden and Hardin County Evelyn was preceded in death by both her parents and her sister,
Eleanor. Also, Evelyn was a descendant of the Irving and Adaline Whitney family that helped settle
Alden in the 1860s.
